New project!

I’ve had this pine chest at the foot of my bed, and while it’s super functional it’s not quite my style. Thinking of painting it grey! Kilz 2 is my go-to primer. I’ve used it on all my painting projects and it’s really the best. Looking forward to sharing this when its all done!

Bar Cart

I’ve been wanting a bar cart for the corner of my dining room for quite some time now. A few months back my neighbors with the sweetest kids moved. A sad day, but I did inherit a few things including an old (but solid construction) light oak printer cart. I knew as soon as I saw it a bar cart was in the works!

I decided on a navy to paint it. Which in turn works out because I’ve been thinking about using a similar color on the master bath cabinets, and a trial run was in order.

First was a light sand, wash, and a coat of kilz 2 primer. Then I used between 3 and 4 coats of Sherwin Williams paint tinted to Anchors Away. This was the first time I’ve painted anything this dark of a color, and boy did it take a lot more work. I have to say I love the end result, so it seems to be worth it.

I took the old black plastic wheels and for the time being spray painted them “champagne mist”. It’s a gold color without being too overwhelmingly gold. I then put out some of my prettier bottles, openers, and cocktail books to style the cart.

Still some work on arranging the top of the cart, but I’m happy how well it turned out! Cheers to more cocktails in my future.

Natural Hand Soap

I’ve always had terrible dry skin on my hands. So I figured maybe switching up my hand soap might help, and I could make it work best for my needs.

  • 1/4 cup Castile soap (I got the lavender one)
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon sweet almond oil
  • 5 drops tea tree oil (about 1/2 teaspoon)
  • 2 teaspoons glycerin

It’s a pretty liquidy soap, so next go around I might add more glycerine to thicken it up. Also might add more almond oil for more moisturizing. The plus so far after one day of use is that is smells really good! I ordered everything from Amazon except the tea tree oil. I found that Trader Joes had the best price on it.
